Grandma's 85th Birthday

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of making a dessert table for a very special woman in my life, my grandmother turned 85 so we threw a party to celebrate. I was given free range for the desserts, so I made a variety of different desserts including chocolate pumpkin bread pudding, vanilla cake pops, mini apple pies, salted caramel shooters, mini red velvet whoopie pies, mini key lime tarts, and cookies with Reese cup centers. The cake itself was spice cake with cream cheese icing. Yum!
The party theme was garden so the cake had a rose icing pattern and, the cake pops looked like real roses in a flower tin.
The colors for the party were light green and pink so I tried to keep all of the desserts and cake plates in that color palate.

I love these mini apple pies!

Here are some party goers posing with my grandmother.
My nephew stealing some candy! Good thing he is so cute!

Happy Birthday Grandma. I hope you enjoyed your party!

Recent Wedding Cakes

So we have been really bust since the beginning of wedding season, and I lost my camera battery charger so I haven't been able to get any recent posts up lately. The good news is I found my charger and I have a lot of new cakes to share with you. I thought I would start of by sharing some recent wedding cakes that I have made.

First up I made a three tier white and black cake for Maggie and Bob. The cake was adorned with edible silver sugar pearls and real yellow roses. The cake fit in nicely with their venue and color scheme.

Next up was Kimberly and Anthony's colorful Gerber daisies cake. All of the Gerber daisies were made of sugar to match the couples wedding colors. When we dropped the cake off I could tell I had nailed the color scheme. The cake fit right in with the rest of the decor.

My next bride Melissa wanted an nontraditional cake which is right up our alley. She loves blown sugar work and wanted blown sugar tendrils all over her cake. She also wanted to incorporate some sugar flowers to match the real flowers in the centerpieces. I made sugar lisianthus, delphinium, hydrangea, dianthus, and Gerber daisies. A lot of these flowers were a first for me, but I think this cake turned out great and was defiantly a show stopper.

Everything on her cake was edible!

Next, up was Krystal's all ivory wedding cake. She wanted a classic and elegant wedding cake with lace details to match her dress. I think this cake was beautiful, and classic. We added pearl dust to the ribbons and the lace to make it stand off the cake.

Lastly, I wanted to share two recent dummies cakes that I made. First up I made an ombré butterfly cake with all edible butterflies. I like the way this cake turned out, and think that the offset square is the best look for this cake.

This last cake is one of my all time favorites (until the next all time favorite that is)! I made sugar pom poms and fantasy flowers in corals and pinks. I added vintage gold buttons to the cake which I just loved. I hope that I have brides in the future order similar cakes. The pom poms and flowers are so much fun to make!  I also made matching sugar cookies for this cake that brides could order as their favors or as gifts for their bridal parties.

So, I hoped you liked this update. I promise I have much more to share and will get my next post out much sooner. Congratulations to all my brides and grooms, and I hope your day was spectacular!
