Recent Wedding Cakes

So since it is technically still fall I thought I would share with everyone the my recent fall wedding cakes. First up was this beautiful three tier cake with fantasy flowers. The bride Lauren came to me with a photo of a cake that she wanted me to replicate. We changed a few aspects of the cake but pretty much kept everything the same since she was in love with the design. I unfortanely do not know the original artist so I can't give them credit.

I think the cake turned out wonderfully and I love the modern design. The wedding was held at a yatch club in Delaware which was an absoulutely amazing backdrop for photos! I love all of the natural light in this photo!

Next, up was a fall cake that matched the bride and grooms invitation. I love the way the cake turned out. I was unsure how the tree would look wrapped around the cake, but in the end I think it was really stunning. We added the bride and grooms intials to the tree to make it look like it was carved into the tree.

I convinced the bride and groom to use a tree trunk as the "cake plate" to display the cake. I think this cake was perfect for this type of display and think the tree trunk fit the theme of the wedding and cake perfectly. To top it of I made edible love birds!

Last up was a more classic fall themed cake. We added fondant leaves, acorns, and pumpkins on each tier around the entire cake. The fall leaves really added a pop of color to the cake and brought it to life.
The sweetheart table!
I love the lantern centerpieces, and think the cake fit in the reception area nicely.

Well hope you enjoyed this last glimpse of fall. I wish I could hold onto fall a little longer, but now its time to get into the Christmas spirit and start baking cookies and making gingerbread houses!

Krystal and Ryan's Swan Harbor Wedding

I had the pleasure of working with Krystal and Ryan for their June wedding at Swan Harbor Farm this year. There were so many great vendors that helped make their day extra special. Emily Chastain photography took some amazing pictures of their big day and was nice enough to let me share them. Their wedding day could not have been more beautiful, and the bride is absolutely glowing in all of the pictures. Enjoy!

Swan Harbor is a gorgeous place to get married.

I love their champagne flutes!
For the cake Krystal wanted something modern, but simple and classic. We decided to go with a square cake with lace detail that matched her dress. Krystal didn't want to cake to be too busy so we only added the lace detail to one tier so that it stood out. The other tiers were decorated with an edible ribbon, and pearl shimmer.

It looks like they had alot of fun!

I love this picture!

Recent Wedding Cakes

I wanted to share some recent cakes with all of you. I am behind on blogging, but I am trying to catch up so without further ado here are some more recent cakes. The first wedding was Shannon and Matt's wedding at Top of the Bay in Aberdeen. Shannon wanted her wedding cake to be classic and elegant. She opted for an all ivory fondant cake with ivory sugar flowers and a bow that matched her dress.

Close-up of the sugar flowers.
Close-up of the bow! I think we matched the bow and beading perfectly to the bride's dress!
Shannon also ordered a surprise grooms cake for Seth. We decided on a Jet's hat. I made the board look like a football field for an added touch. We had to sneak this groom's cake inside since the groom didn't know about it. it was quite the challenge to make sure the groom didn't see it since he was hanging around while everything was being set-up. We managed to get it past him into the venue though with the help of the wait staff.
Here is the beautiful bride in her gorgeous dress!
Next up, we had Lindsey and Matt's wedding at Swan Harbor. Lindsey was going with the popular chevron pattern and  yellow, gray, and turquoise for colors. We designed a gray cake with polka dot and chevron pattern and a big sunflower for a pop of color. Lindsey was having a friend make cupcakes to match the theme.
 Close-up of the sunflower.
Here is the complete set-up at the wedding. I think it turned out very nicely. I love the chevron and polka dot cupcake wrappers. I also love that she made a sign that specified when the dessert bar was open. I know from experience that everyone will try to sneak a cupcake beforehand without a sign :)
The bride incorporated her grandmother's cake topper. i love this vintage cake topper and think it was a great finishing touch to the cake!
That's it for now!
Lastly, we have been entered in a contest as Best Cakes in Aberdeen Md. The contest runs until August 30th. Please go and vote for us. You can submit a vote everyday until the 30th.
Thanks again!

Recent Wedding Cakes

So we have been really bust since the beginning of wedding season, and I lost my camera battery charger so I haven't been able to get any recent posts up lately. The good news is I found my charger and I have a lot of new cakes to share with you. I thought I would start of by sharing some recent wedding cakes that I have made.

First up I made a three tier white and black cake for Maggie and Bob. The cake was adorned with edible silver sugar pearls and real yellow roses. The cake fit in nicely with their venue and color scheme.

Next up was Kimberly and Anthony's colorful Gerber daisies cake. All of the Gerber daisies were made of sugar to match the couples wedding colors. When we dropped the cake off I could tell I had nailed the color scheme. The cake fit right in with the rest of the decor.

My next bride Melissa wanted an nontraditional cake which is right up our alley. She loves blown sugar work and wanted blown sugar tendrils all over her cake. She also wanted to incorporate some sugar flowers to match the real flowers in the centerpieces. I made sugar lisianthus, delphinium, hydrangea, dianthus, and Gerber daisies. A lot of these flowers were a first for me, but I think this cake turned out great and was defiantly a show stopper.

Everything on her cake was edible!

Next, up was Krystal's all ivory wedding cake. She wanted a classic and elegant wedding cake with lace details to match her dress. I think this cake was beautiful, and classic. We added pearl dust to the ribbons and the lace to make it stand off the cake.

Lastly, I wanted to share two recent dummies cakes that I made. First up I made an ombré butterfly cake with all edible butterflies. I like the way this cake turned out, and think that the offset square is the best look for this cake.

This last cake is one of my all time favorites (until the next all time favorite that is)! I made sugar pom poms and fantasy flowers in corals and pinks. I added vintage gold buttons to the cake which I just loved. I hope that I have brides in the future order similar cakes. The pom poms and flowers are so much fun to make!  I also made matching sugar cookies for this cake that brides could order as their favors or as gifts for their bridal parties.

So, I hoped you liked this update. I promise I have much more to share and will get my next post out much sooner. Congratulations to all my brides and grooms, and I hope your day was spectacular!
