What to do in a Cake Crisis

Hello long time no talk. Today I wanted to share a little story that happened to me over the weekend on one of my deliveries. This weekend was crazy busy for me with lots of weddings and desserts to deliver. So I guess I will start off with some happy things like pictures of desserts and then I will get to my Sunday delivery crisis.

 Love this dessert table set-up

Sundays wedding was in Mt. Airy Maryland which, is about a 1 hour and 20 minutes delivery so we decided to start off early to make sure we had plenty of time to get to the venue. You never know what could happen especially with traffic. It is a very good thing we left so early because about 3 miles from the venue our SUV decided to just stop working. It completely shut off while we were driving. I kind of started to panic because it was over 80 degrees that day and the car started to heat up pretty quickly. Luckily, I had the number of the planner with me so I arranged for someone to come get us so we could deliver the desserts.

We managed to transfer everything into the caterers truck and get it delivered before everything melted in the heat. It is a good thing we left early because otherwise I am not sure we would have made it. I will admit that it was a very stressful situation but I I think we handled it well and the couple knew nothing about the small crisis going on behind the scenes.

I always make sure to have the venue contact info along with the person in charge of the weddings info  just in case something like this could happen.  I will admit that it was slightly embarrassing to have to call for a ride but, you have to do what you have to do. If we had been any farther from the venue my plan of action would have been to rent a vehicle to get the cake to the venue. Things like this happen but you need to make sure you remain calm and think clearly or at least have someone with you who can do that for you.

In the end our car didn't make it and we put it to rest. It has been a great delivery vehicle but, now we need to find something more reliable for the future.

So until next time happy caking!

Have you ever had a cake crisis? How did you handle it?
